1011173 B.C. Ltd. v Hakemi & Ridgedale LLP
The Law Firm appealed the decision of the Registrar that had found the Clients were entitled to review all 31 legal accounts issued to them. The Registrar had determined that the Clients had not given informed consent to the final billing provision in the retainer agreement. The Clients had retained the Law Firm for litigation, and the Law Firm had argued that each account was a final bill subject to the limitation period. The Clients had disagreed and stated that all accounts should be reviewed. The parties had presented their positions before the Registrar, and the appeal is now being reviewed based on legal principles.
