Betts v Zienowicz

Daniel Betts and his father-in-law, Mr. Li, sued Mariusz Zienowicz and Dariusz Zienowicz for breaching a Shareholders Agreement related to a cannabis-growing venture. The dispute involved four petitions, an arbitration hearing, and the remaining claim in the civil case. Daniel, Mariusz Zienowicz (Mark), and Dariusz Zienowicz (Derek) were the main parties in the proceedings. At trial, Daniel, Mariusz Zienowicz, and Derek testified, while no other witnesses were presented. The court allowed the plaintiffs' claims against Mark and Derek for breaching the Shareholders Agreement. They were awarded damages totaling $542,003, plus $50,000 in punitive damages. Special costs were granted, and prejudgment interest from July 17, 2018, was ordered. These orders applied to Mark and Derek jointly and severally.
