Mérieux NutriSciences acquires Bureau Veritas’ food testing business for €360 million

In January 2025, Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification, completed the €$360-million sale of its food testing business to Mérieux NutriSciences. The transaction included Bureau Veritas' microbiological, chemical, and molecular testing services provided through 34 laboratories and 1,900 staff across 15 countries in the Americas, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The acquisition aimed to strengthen Mérieux NutriSciences' global presence, doubling its operations in Canada and the Asia Pacific region, extending its reach to 32 countries.

Supported by parent company Institut Mérieux, this strategic move bolstered Mérieux NutriSciences' capability to meet rising global demand for food safety and sustainability. The company was in discussions with AsureQuality to continue joint ventures in Australia and Southeast Asia.

Legal advisors for Mérieux NutriSciences included Torys LLP and Gide Loyrette Nouel, while Bureau Veritas was advised by Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP and Hogan Lovells.
