Arctic Wolf acquires BlackBerry’s Cylance endpoint security assets for US$160 million

Arctic Wolf announced on December 16, 2024, that it would acquire BlackBerry’s Cylance endpoint security assets for US$160 million (approximately $228 million CAD). The deal included US$80 million in cash at closing, US$40 million payable a year later, and 5.5 million Arctic Wolf shares. BlackBerry retained its Secure Communications businesses and continued as both a reseller of Cylance’s portfolio and a shareholder in Arctic Wolf.

On February 3, 2025, Arctic Wolf and BlackBerry announced the successful closing of the transaction. The acquisition enabled the integration of Cylance’s AI-driven endpoint protection into the Arctic Wolf Aurora Platform, resulting in the launch of Aurora Endpoint Security. This portfolio extends advanced prevention and detection directly to endpoints, leveraging insights from over 10,000 customers and more than 7 trillion weekly security observations. Aurora Endpoint Security includes four tailored solutions: Aurora Protect, Aurora Endpoint Defense, Aurora Managed, and other offerings aimed at reducing risk exposure, preventing alert fatigue, and building stronger defenses.

Perella Weinberg Partners LP advised BlackBerry, with Morrison Foerster LLP as legal counsel. Cooley LLP served as Arctic Wolf’s legal advisor.
