On December 23, 2024, Vermilion Energy Inc. announced its $1.075 billion acquisition of Westbrick Energy Ltd., a private oil and gas producer in Alberta’s Deep Basin. The deal, expected to close in Q1 2025, adds 50,000 boe/d of production, 770,000 net acres, and over 700 drilling locations to Vermilion's portfolio. The acquisition is forecasted to generate $110 million in annual free cash flow.
Vermilion funded the purchase through its $1.35 billion revolving credit facility, a $250 million term loan underwritten by TD Securities, and a $300 million bridge facility arranged with TD Securities and RBC.
