The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is a major C$6 billion infrastructure initiative aimed at extending Metro Vancouver’s Expo Line by 16 kilometres from Surrey’s King George Station to Langley City Centre. The project includes eight new stations, three transit exchanges, and new supporting infrastructure, and is expected to significantly reduce travel times across the region. The Government of British Columbia awarded three major contracts: SkyLink Guideway Partners will design and build the elevated guideway; South Fraser Station Partners will construct the stations and transit hubs; and Transit Integrators BC will handle systems and trackwork. Construction began in late 2024, with completion targeted for 2029. This project marks the first rapid-transit expansion south of the Fraser River in over 30 years, aiming to meet the needs of growing suburban communities with more sustainable transportation options.
