CGI, Aktia Bank enters strategic partnership in $75 million deal
CGI and Aktia have forged a strategic partnership, granting CGI the reins to a significant portion of Aktia's banking IT services, including the upkeep and development of 150 pivotal applications. The collaboration, estimated at around 50 MEUR (roughly 75 MCAD), aims to bolster the functioning and advancement of Aktia's current banking services and products. Additionally, it paves the way for faster rollouts of innovative services, enhancing customer interactions and boosting Aktia's competitive edge in the dynamic finance arena.
Sari Leppänen, Aktia's CIO, emphasized their dedication to long-term innovation, aiming to emerge as a top-tier wealth manager bank. She acknowledged the investments made in revamping core banking frameworks and their ongoing refinement. Partnering with CGI facilitates Aktia's IT optimization, fostering innovation, ensuring scalability, enhancing regulatory adherence, and risk management.
Leena-Mari Lähteenmaa, the head of CGI's operations in Finland, Poland, and the Baltics, expressed gratitude for Aktia's faith in their services, emphasizing CGI's proficiency in IT-managed services. CGI brings both local and global support, guaranteeing continuous backing and adaptability.
Kimmo Koivisto of CGI welcomed over 50 Aktia banking professionals who are joining due to this alliance, foreseeing enriched career prospects with their combined strength.
The partnership is slated to kick off as a joint venture before 2023.
