Montreal-based SIGMA-RH acquires SOFE division from Berger-Levrault

On November 12, 2024, SIGMA-RH, a Montreal-based provider of HR IT and HRIS solutions, announced the acquisition of SOFE, the HR, payroll, and financial management software division of Berger-Levrault. SOFE, headquartered in Quebec City, delivers modular ERP software tailored to medium and large organizations across sectors such as human resources, payroll, finance, municipal taxation, and debt management. Founded in 2002, SOFE's integrated platforms support administrative efficiency across various operational needs.

Founded in 1992, SIGMA-RH brings a robust international presence, with deployment in over 20 countries and a subsidiary in France since 2004. Its versatile platform is acclaimed for combining flexibility, innovation, and advanced geolocation and analytics tools to streamline HR and occupational health and safety processes.

Berger-Levrault, headquartered in France, is a global software publisher serving over 40,000 clients across five continents. The divestment of SOFE allows Berger-Levrault to focus further on its core operations in the public sector, healthcare, industry, and education markets.

While the transaction value was not publicly disclosed, Oaklins Canada acted as exclusive sell-side advisor to Berger-Levrault. Legal counsel to the vendors was provided by Fasken, with Jean-François Noël and Julien Fournier leading. Thibeault Joyal represented the buyers, with Martin Joyal advising.

The transaction reinforces SIGMA-RH’s presence in the Canadian ERP and HR software markets and marks a strategic expansion of its service portfolio.
