TotalEnergies secures Canadian LNG supply via Ksi Lisims deal, acquires stake in Western LNG

On May 19, 2025, TotalEnergies signed a 20-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Ksi Lisims LNG for the offtake of 2 million tons per annum (Mtpa) of liquefied natural gas from a future facility on the Pacific coast of British Columbia, Canada. The agreement is subject to a final investment decision on the project. To further its integrated strategy, TotalEnergies also acquired a 5% equity stake in Western LNG, the Canadian developer and future operator of the project, with an option to increase its stake in Western LNG and/or the Ksi Lisims LNG plant up to approximately 10% following a final investment decision.

The Ksi Lisims LNG facility is planned to have an annual capacity of 12 Mtpa and will be one of the world’s lowest CO2-emitting LNG projects due to its full electrification and reliance on hydroelectric power. Strategically located for access to Asian markets, the Canadian-based project enhances TotalEnergies’ LNG portfolio diversification and competitive supply capabilities from Western Canada.
