ATCO secures $400M financing for Alberta's Forty Mile Wind project

In November 2024, ATCO Renewables Ltd. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Forty Mile Granlea Wind LP, achieved financial close on the Forty Mile Wind project, a wind energy generation facility located in Alberta, Canada. The project financing was executed through a private placement note issuance, raising approximately $400 million.

The Forty Mile Wind project is being developed in two phases. Phase 1 consists of 49 Nordex wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.7 megawatts, totaling 280 megawatts. Phase 2 plans to add 21 turbines with an additional capacity of 120 megawatts, bringing the total project capacity to 400 megawatts.

The project is expected to generate enough clean energy to power more than 85,000 homes.
