On May 12, 2025, Serge Boulanger, a former senior executive at Metro Inc., announced the strategic acquisition of Alipro-Mistral Ingrédients Inc. and its affiliated company Gestion Immobilière Plasse Inc. (GIP). Alipro, based in Montreal and established in 1997 by the Plasse family, is a leading manufacturer and wholesaler of premium food ingredients such as fillings, icings, fondants, glazes, and jellies, catering to bakery, confectionery, industrial dairy, and biscuit sectors.
The transaction marked Boulanger’s return to the food industry after his retirement in 2022. The production facility spans 28,000 square feet and maintains certifications including sustainable palm oil.
The deal was financed through a collaboration between Investissement Québec and the Royal Bank of Canada, who provided strategic funding support.
