Innergex and Mi'gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation secure $307M financing for Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 wind project

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and Mi'gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation (MMBC) have successfully closed a C$307 million project financing deal for the 300-MW Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 (MU2) wind project located in Québec, Canada. The project is a 50-50 partnership between Innergex and MMBC, which represents three Mi’gmaq communities in the Gaspé Peninsula.

The financing package covers the full construction costs of the project, which is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2026. MU2 builds upon the success of the original Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind farm commissioned in 2016 and will significantly contribute to Québec’s clean energy transition.

The MU2 project has secured a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Hydro-Québec, ensuring long-term revenue stability. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 Québec homes annually and strengthen Indigenous economic participation in the renewable energy sector.
