On June 3, 2025, Invenergy and the Alliance de l’Énergie de l’Est announced the closing of C$1.1 billion in financing for the Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk 1 (PPAW 1) Wind Energy Centre, a 350 MW wind power project in Eastern Québec.
Selected by Hydro-Québec in 2023 through a competitive tendering process, PPAW 1 is being developed under an equal partnership between Invenergy and the Alliance. The Alliance is a consortium of 209 municipalities and territories, including the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation and the Communauté maritime des Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
The project advances Québec’s clean energy transition by delivering substantial renewable power and supporting local economic development through inclusive public-private collaboration. The financing follows Green Loan Principles and is structured through a combination of equity (from the sponsors) and credit facilities from Canadian, Japanese, and German banks.
