On June 24, 2025, CGC Inc., a prominent Canadian manufacturer of gypsum-based building materials, announced its acquisition of Imperial Building Products Ltd. (IBP). This strategic move involves the acquisition of 100 percent of IBP’s shares and is part of CGC’s ongoing national growth strategy. IBP, founded in 1990 as a division of Imperial Manufacturing Group and based in Richibucto, New Brunswick, is a leading producer of steel framing components, drywall trims, and proprietary structural solutions.

The acquisition strengthens CGC’s supply chain and product offerings by incorporating IBP’s five-plant manufacturing network across Canada—located in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. It is expected to accelerate CGC’s capabilities in serving residential and commercial builders, while supporting Canada’s housing and infrastructure goals.

Post-acquisition, IBP will continue to operate as a distinct business unit within CGC, with no immediate changes to its workforce or customer base.
