Valsoft acquires UK-based library software leader collectionHQ

On June 27, 2025, Montreal-based Valsoft Corporation Inc. announced the acquisition of collectionHQ, a Glasgow-founded provider of data-driven collection performance improvement solutions for libraries. The transaction aligns with Valsoft’s strategy of acquiring and scaling vertical market software companies. collectionHQ, launched in 2008, pioneered the integration of Evidence Based Stock Management (EBSM®) methodology into public library workflows and has since expanded its reach to public libraries across the UK, U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Recently, the company launched cHQacademic, a solution tailored for academic institutions.

The acquisition strengthens Valsoft’s portfolio in the library technology sector. Peter Blanchard, Portfolio Vice President at Valsoft, emphasized collectionHQ’s alignment with Valsoft’s vision and global growth strategy. Amandeep Kochar, CEO of Baker & Taylor, expressed confidence in Valsoft’s ability to support the continued evolution of collectionHQ’s solutions. The acquired business will continue operating under its current brand and leadership, focusing on market expansion, customer engagement, and product development.

Legal representation for Valsoft was provided internally by David Felicissimo (General Counsel), Oliver Gray (Senior Legal Counsel), and Elisa Marcon (Corporate Paralegal). Bridgeall Libraries Limited, the seller of collectionHQ, was represented by Ryan Alexander of Offit Kurman and Katy Poole of Buckles Law. No transaction value was publicly disclosed.
