Fengate Private Equity, a division of Fengate Asset Management, has announced a strategic partnership with Sweets from the Earth, a prominent Canadian manufacturer specializing in 100 percent plant-based, allergy-friendly baked goods. The investment, managed on behalf of the LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada, marks Fengate’s second platform acquisition in the food and beverage sector within 18 months. Sweets from the Earth, founded in 2002 by Ilana Kadonoff, will continue to be led by Ilana and Co-CEO Marc Kadonoff, who will retain a significant minority stake and remain actively involved in the company’s operations. The partnership aims to accelerate the company’s growth across North America, leveraging Fengate’s resources and strategic expertise. Legal counsel for Fengate was provided by Miller Thomson LLP, with debt financing from Royal Bank of Canada. Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP acted as legal advisor to Sweets from the Earth, while Deloitte Corporate Finance Inc. served as the company’s financial advisor. Notably, the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and no specific transaction value was published.
