Manulife to acquire Schroders’ Indonesian asset management business

On September 24, 2025, Manulife Financial Corp’s wealth and asset management division has agreed to acquire PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia, the Indonesian arm of UK-based Schroders. The transaction, which will be carried out by PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia, is pending regulatory approval and other standard conditions. Until the deal closes, both companies will continue to operate separately and comply with all regulatory requirements. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. As of the end of June, Schroders’ Indonesian unit managed 56 trillion rupiahs in assets, equivalent to about US$3.36 billion or roughly C$4.54 billion.

The move follows previous reports that Schroders was seeking a buyer for its Indonesian business.

The acquisition, once completed, will transfer management of the Indonesian assets to Manulife’s local unit.
