Greek firm Mytilineos invests in $1.7-billion project to build Alberta-based solar farm

Greece's Mytilineos SA is launching a $1.7 billion solar-energy project in Alberta, Canada, which will be the country's largest of its kind. The investment comprises five projects bought from Westbridge Renewable Energy Corp. of Calgary for a price between $217 million and $346 million, contingent on installed solar capacity and other factors. The project, with a total capacity of 1.4 gigawatts, is expected to be fully operational by 2026 or 2027. The company's largest shareholder, after its CEO, is Toronto's Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., which owns 4.7% of the company.
