On March 18, 2026, S&P Global Inc. announced the completion of its acquisition of Enertel AI Corporation, an Ontario-based company specializing in AI and machine learning-driven short-term power price forecasting for North American electricity markets. The transaction value was not publicly disclosed, and S&P Global noted that the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on the financial results of S&P Global or its Energy division. Founded in 2021, Enertel AI delivers probabilistic, nodal-level price forecasts across all major ISOs in North American wholesale power markets, including day-ahead and sub-hourly forecasts, utilizing proprietary Graph Neural Network models that integrate market prices, load, weather, fuel costs, and other price formation inputs.
Enertel AI's capabilities will be integrated into S&P Global's Energy division, which is recognized as an authoritative source of long-term power market intelligence, offering benchmarks, historical price data, and strategic forecasts. With this addition, S&P Global Energy now provides real-time, AI-powered nodal price forecasts and decision tools relied upon by physical power traders, utilities, and asset operators to navigate the rapidly evolving energy grid. Torys LLP acted as counsel to S&P Global, with a team led by Richard Willoughby and Justin Crawford, and included Isaac Papsin (Corporate/M&A), Ed Fan and Chantalle Briggs (IP), Nic Wall (Privacy), Tom Stevenson and Olivia Mazza (Employment), and Benjamin Mann and Louis Caramanna (Tax).
