On October 6, 2025, Itron, Inc., the Liberty Lake, Washington-based provider of grid edge intelligence, energy, and water management solutions for utilities and cities, announced that it had entered into a definitive Agreement and Plan of Merger to acquire Urbint, Inc., a privately held, Miami, Florida-based software company. Under the merger agreement, a wholly owned subsidiary of Itron will merge with and into Urbint, with Urbint surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of Itron. The purchase price is US$325 million in cash, subject to customary adjustments for final working capital and other closing considerations, funded entirely from Itron's cash on hand. Urbint develops AI-powered operational resilience software that leverages real-world data and artificial intelligence to predict threats to utility workers, critical infrastructure, and underground assets, helping utilities restore power faster after major weather events, prevent worker injuries, and protect physical assets. Itron President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Deitrich framed the acquisition as a continuation of Itron's strategy to address pressing utility-sector challenges and to expand its AI-driven recurring revenue. Urbint Founder and Chief Executive Officer Corey Capasso described the combination as an opportunity to scale Urbint's mission alongside an industry leader in utility technology.
