On May 27, 2026, Avantus Aerospace Ltd., through a wholly owned subsidiary, completed the acquisition of Shimco North America Inc., a Cambridge, Ontario-based manufacturer of high-precision aerospace-grade shims, precision-machined parts and specialized coatings. Shimco, founded in 1985, serves OEM, Tier 1 and MRO customers across the aerospace, defense, medical and industrial sectors, holds AS9100D certification and Nadcap accreditation for chemical processing, and operates manufacturing facilities in Cambridge, Ontario and Casablanca, Morocco. Avantus Aerospace (formerly Shimtech Industries until its 2020 rebrand) is a global group of aerospace component manufacturers owned by London-based Inflexion Private Equity and Auctus Industries, with management headquartered in Valencia, California. Its existing portfolio of operating companies includes Attewell, Lamsco, Bolsan, Fastener Technology Corp., Pillar Seals & Gaskets, Performance Plastics, Angeles Composites, California Screw Products and Fastener Innovation Technology, supplying customers such as Boeing, Airbus, Spirit AeroSystems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Bombardier and De Havilland. The transaction expands Avantus's product portfolio in shims and detailed products and adds Canadian and Moroccan manufacturing footprint to the group. Dan Strangio, chief executive officer of Avantus Aerospace, cited Shimco's product expansion as the rationale for the acquisition, while Peter Voss, chief executive officer of Shimco, described Avantus as bringing industry expertise, operational rigor and long-term capital.
