Nippon Express Holdings completes acquisition of Metro Supply Chain at $1.8 billion enterprise value

Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. (NX Group), a Tokyo-listed logistics group, agreed on April 17, 2026 to buy Metro Supply Chain from majority shareholder LDC Metro Holdings Inc. and La Caisse. Metro is a Montréal-based third-party logistics provider operating in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. NX Group’s notice values Metro at $1.8 billion on an enterprise value basis. A further earnout of up to $400 million may be payable if financial targets are met. The sellers’ announcement described the deal as worth up to $2.2 billion. The final price is subject to net debt and net working capital adjustments. NX Group reportedly completed the purchase on October 1, 2026 (Canadian time) through a Canadian special-purpose company, and Metro’s completion release is dated October 9, 2026. A merger of that vehicle with Metro is expected on November 1, 2026. Metro will keep its name and founder Chiko Nanji remains group chairman. At announcement, NX Group committed to maintain Metro’s management team and Montréal headquarters.
