In mid-June 2026, FYihealth group ("FYi"), the Calgary-headquartered doctor-led Canadian diversified eyecare platform and parent company of FYidoctors, Visique, BonLook and solis optics, announced that investment funds managed by KKR & Co. Inc. (NYSE: KKR), the New York-headquartered global investment firm, will make a strategic investment in FYi. The investment is being made through KKR's Ascendant Fund, a KKR Americas private equity strategy targeting North American growth-stage businesses. Financial terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.
Founded in 2008 by Dr. Alan Ulsifer through what remains the largest business merger in Canadian history by number of participating companies, FYi operates more than 370 optometry clinics and retail stores across Canada and the U.S. under the FYidoctors, Visique, BonLook and solis optics banners, with a workforce of approximately 5,000 to 10,000 people and a central vertically integrated lens manufacturing operation at its Delta Lab in British Columbia, which surpassed five million patient eyewear orders in 2025. FYi is doctor-led and doctor- and staff-owned, with clinical governance vested in a Doctor Advisory Committee composed of practising optometrists from across the network.
FYi will use the investment to support its doctor-led clinical model, maintain broad-based ownership for doctors and staff, invest in technology (including AI and digital infrastructure), and continue expanding access to eyecare across Canada and the United States. The transaction adds to KKR's portfolio of vision and eyecare platform investments, which has historically included National Vision, 1-800 Contacts, Lenskart, Nexeye and Topcon Corporation.
