Eurofins Scientific acquires High North Laboratories

On May 21, 2026, Eurofins Scientific completed its acquisition of High North Laboratories, a Vaughan, Ontario-based cannabis testing laboratory and one of the largest dedicated cannabis testing facilities in Canada. The acquisition consolidates the cannabis testing capabilities of High North Laboratories with those of Eurofins Experchem, Eurofins' existing Canadian analytical testing subsidiary, under a newly established brand, Eurofins ExperNorth. The combined platform will serve licensed producers, processors, and manufacturers across the Canadian cannabis industry, with expanded testing capacity, technical expertise, and a broader national service footprint. High North Laboratories was founded in 2016 by John Slaughter and Jeremy Pindus and is a Health Canada-licensed and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)-licensed analytical facility accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, operating from a purpose-built 16,000 square-foot facility in Vaughan, Ontario. The laboratory specializes in cannabis-specific testing methodologies for cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, residual solvents, microbiological and viral contaminants, heavy metals, and pesticides, and serves both domestic licensed producers and international cannabis export markets. Eurofins Experchem provides analytical testing services in food and feed, supplements, and cannabis, and is part of the global Eurofins network. As a private transaction, deal terms (including purchase price, consideration mix, and post-closing employment or retention arrangements for High North founders and management) were not publicly disclosed. The acquisition further consolidates a Canadian cannabis testing market that has experienced significant rationalization following the maturation of the legal cannabis sector in Canada, and positions Eurofins as a leading provider in the segment.
