SolGold plc, a copper-gold exploration and development company advancing the Cascabel project in Ecuador, agreed to be acquired by Jiangxi Copper (Hong Kong) Investment Company Limited in an all-cash transaction valuing SolGold at approximately £867 million, equal to roughly US$1.16 billion. The offer was priced at 28 pence per share and was structured as a court-approved scheme of arrangement under United Kingdom company law. SolGold is incorporated in the United Kingdom and listed on the London Stock Exchange, having previously maintained a Toronto listing, and Jiangxi Copper had been a significant existing shareholder before agreeing to acquire the balance of the company. The Cascabel project is one of the more significant undeveloped copper-gold assets globally, and the transaction consolidated control under Jiangxi Copper, one of the largest copper producers based in China. The recommended offer was announced in late December 2025, sanctioned by the court in early March 2026, and became effective on March 4, 2026, with the company's shares delisted from the London Stock Exchange the following day.
