Hitachi Energy, the Switzerland-headquartered electrification arm of Hitachi Group, signed a definitive agreement to acquire Canduct Group, a manufacturer of transformer insulation kits and components headquartered in London, Ontario. The agreement was announced on June 17, 2026, and the transaction closed on July 2, 2026. Founded in 1982, Canduct operates manufacturing facilities in London and Cambridge, Ontario, as well as Boardman, Ohio, and employs more than 300 people. The company has supplied transformer insulation solutions to original equipment manufacturers and repair companies across Canada and the United States, including to Hitachi Energy itself for more than two decades. The acquisition is intended to expand Hitachi Energy's North American regional insulation and components manufacturing capabilities, address a bottleneck in the region's transformer supply chain, and support accelerating demand for grid infrastructure amid growing electricity consumption. Bruno Melles, Chief Executive Officer of Hitachi Energy's Business Unit Transformers, described the deal as strengthening the company's leadership position in transformer insulation through strategic North American expansion. Financial terms of the transaction have not been publicly disclosed by either party.
