Cinven and La Caisse to jointly acquire specialty MGA platform Optio Group

On July 27, 2026, international private equity firm Cinven, together with global investment group La Caisse (formerly CDPQ), announced an agreement to jointly acquire a majority stake in Optio Group, a leading specialty insurance managing general agent platform headquartered in London. The stake is being acquired from Preservation Capital Partners, which first invested in Optio in 2018; Optio's management team will remain significantly invested and continue to lead the business following completion. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2018, Optio originates, underwrites and manages specialty risk on behalf of more than 60 third-party capacity providers, writing a diversified portfolio across six business lines — Profession and Specialty, Transportation, Property and Energy, Healthcare, Transactional Liability, and Surety and Credit — spanning more than 30 products. The company operates 18 offices across 15 countries in the UK, Europe, the US, the Middle East and Asia, and writes more than 460 million pounds in annual premiums. For Cinven, the deal builds on its track record in specialty underwriting and financial services, including investments in Compre, Miller and Policy Expert. For La Caisse, it reflects a longstanding global focus on insurance and insurance-related platforms across Europe, North America and Australia. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
