Goldman Sachs Alternatives acquires QScale, Canadian AI data center platform

Infrastructure at Goldman Sachs Alternatives has closed its acquisition of QScale, a Québec-based developer and operator of next-generation, AI-ready data centers, in partnership with QScale's founders and management team. The founders and management team are reinvesting alongside Goldman Sachs Alternatives and will continue to lead the business. The company's flagship site is expected to have 142MW of IT capacity at full build-out, with plans for a second facility in the Écoparc de Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Montreal. QScale's flagship Q01 campus in Lévis uses Quebec's hydroelectric power grid and cold-climate cooling to support high-density computing operations. As part of the deal, QScale appointed Tom Ray, founder and former CEO of CoreSite and EdgeCore, as an independent board member to provide strategic guidance as the company scales its platform across Canada. DCD reported the company was sold following a strategic review earlier this year. The transaction reflects growing institutional interest in Canadian AI infrastructure amid rising global demand for hyperscale compute capacity.
