BDG Fournier Partners Inc., together with the private equity funds BDG – Appalaches Fund III, L.P. and BDG – Appalaches Fund III (Intl), L.P. (collectively BDG), completed the acquisition of all issued and outstanding shares of Groupe Industries Fournier Inc. on 5 May 2026. The shares were purchased from Fournier's management vendors and its majority shareholder, Desjardins Capital Équité Majoritaire S.E.C. Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Fournier is a Quebec corporation that, with its subsidiaries, operates across the industrial engineering, equipment manufacturing, mining, aluminum smelting, and water treatment sectors. Its products include sludge dewatering systems, tanks and silos, installation services, and anode rods and cathode bars for aluminum smelters, and it has served industrial, mining, and institutional customers internationally. Fournier had been majority-owned by Desjardins since a 2013 transaction in which Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins acquired the shares of longtime president Renaud Fournier in partnership with management. The BDG transaction represents a change of control from Desjardins and management to the BDG private equity platform. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed publicly. The deal was structured as a private share purchase and involved competition, environmental, and corporate reorganization workstreams alongside the core M&A work, reflecting Fournier's multi-sector industrial footprint and its Thetford Mines and Trois-Rivières operations.
