On July 27, 2026, Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. announced that holders representing more than 99 percent of the outstanding common shares of Burgess Creek Exploration Inc. had accepted its offer to acquire all issued and outstanding common shares of Burgess Creek. The supported take-over bid was originally commenced on June 19, 2026, at an aggregate cash purchase price of $116 million, less Burgess Creek's net debt amount, transaction costs and termination costs, with shareholders anticipated to receive between approximately $0.89 and $0.91 per common share. The offer had a 35-day initial deposit period and was conditional on at least 90 percent of shares being tendered. Following expiry of the offer and a mandatory 10-day extension, Saturn took up and paid for 133,408,948 common shares on August 7, 2026, representing over 99.7 percent of the issued and outstanding shares. Saturn is completing the acquisition of the remaining shares through the compulsory acquisition provisions of Alberta's Business Corporations Act, with remaining shareholders entitled to the same per-share cash consideration. Burgess Creek is a privately held, 97 percent light oil and liquids-weighted producer with assets in the Oxbow area of southeast Saskatchewan and southwest Manitoba.
