Statkraft sells its Canadian renewable energy platform to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure

Statkraft AS agreed to sell its portfolio of renewable energy projects in Canada, operated through its subsidiary Enerfín Canada, to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure. The transaction was announced on August 1, 2025, and closed on December 10, 2025. The portfolio comprises two operating wind farms totalling 236 MW of installed capacity and a development pipeline of six wind and solar projects. Statkraft described the operating assets as 236 MW of wind capacity, while at closing Atlantica identified them as a 51 percent stake in l'Érable, a 100 MW wind facility in Quebec operating since 2013, and a 136 MW wind asset in Alberta that began operations in early 2025, both backed by long-term power purchase agreements with investment-grade counterparties and an average remaining contract life of roughly 13 years. The development pipeline was described as 800 MW (0.8 GW) at announcement and as approximately 0.6 GW at closing, spanning wind, solar and storage projects across several provinces. Enerfín Canada is headquartered in Montreal, with offices in Calgary and Saint-Ferdinand, Quebec, and its team transferred to Atlantica. Statkraft acquired the Canadian portfolio as part of its broader acquisition of Spain's Enerfín from Elecnor Group, signed in November 2023 and completed in May 2024, and had earmarked the Canadian, Colombian, Australian and U.S. operations for divestment as non-core markets. The parties agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
