Morton Salt, Inc. (also known as SCIH Salt Holdings Inc.) acquired Tiger Calcium Services Inc., an Edmonton-headquartered producer of calcium chloride products, effective December 12, 2025. Tiger Calcium became part of the Morton Salt Group as a result of the transaction. Tiger Calcium is one of the largest manufacturers of calcium chloride products in Western Canada, with products used for dust control, road stabilization, anti-icing and de-icing, oilfield drilling fluids, and mine water suppression. The company operates an extraction, processing and distribution platform anchored by manufacturing operations in Slave Lake, Alberta, and maintains a network of field storage tanks, rail facilities, and a transportation fleet of tank trucks and trailers serving customers across Canada and the United States. Prior to the acquisition, Tiger Calcium was a portfolio company of private equity firm Parallel49 Equity (formerly Tricor Pacific Capital), which had held the business since 2014. Morton Salt, founded in 1847 and headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, is a leading North American producer of salt products for consumer, industrial, water treatment, agricultural, and government customers, and is owned by Stone Canyon Industries Holdings and affiliates. The acquisition adds calcium chloride production and specialty industrial fluids capabilities to Morton Salt's minerals platform. The transaction was reviewable under the Investment Canada Act, with Tiger Calcium Services Inc. appearing in the federal investment review record. The parties did not publicly disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
