Enertrak Inc., a Greater Montréal-based specialized distributor of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) products, completed its sale to a subsidiary of Sweden's Beijer Ref AB on Aug. 4, 2026. The transaction, publicly announced Aug. 5, 2026, was structured as a private share purchase under which Beijer Ref acquired 80 percent of Enertrak's shares, with an option to acquire the remaining shares. Existing management retained a minority ownership interest through an equity rollover component and will continue to lead the business, which will operate under its own brand within Beijer Ref's North America operating segment and Heritage Distribution platform. Founded in 1982 by Samir and Ada Trak, Enertrak serves commercial, industrial and residential contractors across Eastern Canada, including Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The company operates seven branches, employs approximately 120 people, and generates annual sales of approximately $165 million. The acquisition marks Beijer Ref's first entry into the Canadian market and expands its North American footprint. Beijer Ref, headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, is a global refrigeration and climate control solutions group operating across 45 countries. Sam Trak, president of Enertrak, and Alex Averitt, chief executive officer of Heritage Distribution, both characterized the deal as a strategic step to expand Beijer Ref's North American platform. The acquisition is expected to have a minor positive impact on Beijer Ref's results.
