OEC Renewables, the clean energy division of Oakville Enterprises Corporation, has completed its acquisition of the East Strathmore Solar Project from Vancouver-based Elemental Energy Inc. The acquisition was announced on November 18, 2025. The East Strathmore Solar Project is a 20-megawatt operating solar generation facility located in Wheatland County in south-central Alberta, east of Calgary. Commissioned in 2022 on approximately 140 acres of privately owned land, the facility interconnects directly to the FortisAlberta distribution system and supplies power to local businesses, residences, and farming operations. It was one of the first solar generation facilities in the area east of Calgary. The acquisition expands OEC Renewables' portfolio of clean energy generation assets and strengthens its operational footprint in Alberta's electricity market. Company leadership framed the transaction as reinforcing a long-term commitment to Canada's energy transition and providing a foundation for further growth in Western Canada, where the company aims to build reliable, affordable clean energy capacity while delivering value to surrounding communities. Elemental Energy is a Canadian renewable energy developer with interests in operating and development-stage wind, solar, and hydro projects across North America. Oakville Enterprises Corporation, led by president and chief executive officer Rob Lister, is an Ontario-based energy company that has expanded its renewable and utility engineering holdings in recent years through a series of acquisitions and strategic investments across Canada.
