Grundfos acquires Newterra from Frontenac

Grundfos Holding A/S has completed its acquisition of Newterra, a water and wastewater treatment solutions company, from Chicago-based private equity firm Frontenac. The transaction closed on August 15, 2025, following the signing of the acquisition agreement announced on June 24, 2025. The purchase price was not disclosed. Newterra designs, engineers, manufactures, and services modular environmental, water, and wastewater treatment solutions for municipal and industrial customers across applications including drinking water, industrial process water, wastewater, stormwater, and remediation. The company has around 280 employees and operates four production sites in the United States and Canada, including a facility in Brockville, Ontario, alongside sites in San Luis Obispo, California; Heber Springs, Arkansas; and Chaska, Minnesota. The acquisition strengthens Grundfos's growing water treatment portfolio and advances its strategic ambition to expand its presence in the United States and Canadian markets, where the company aims to double its US business by 2030. With the addition of Newterra, Grundfos's water treatment business will have more than 1,500 employees across Europe and North America and revenues exceeding US$350 million. Newterra becomes part of the Water Treatment (Solutions) business within the Grundfos Industry Division. Grundfos, headquartered in Denmark, is a global pump and water solutions company with more than 20,000 employees worldwide. Frontenac had owned Newterra since October 2020, during which period it completed and integrated four add-on acquisitions.
