La Caisse (formerly CDPQ) and Beedie, a Burnaby, British Columbia-based real estate developer, announced on September 10, 2026 the creation of a 50/50 joint venture to acquire and develop industrial real estate across major Canadian markets. The partnership launches with a $1 billion seed portfolio of five income-producing properties in Metro Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto, totalling more than 2.5 million square feet of leasable area, plus one development project expected to add approximately 200,000 square feet. Beedie will manage the venture and provide integrated services. The partners also set a deployment target of up to $2 billion in gross asset value for further acquisitions and development in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Québec, with Beedie sourcing deals and contributing 25 or 50 percent of equity case by case, La Caisse contributing the balance of equity, and the remainder debt-financed (Globe and Mail reporting; not independently confirmed by the joint press release). RBC and CBRE advised Beedie. McCarthy Tétrault acted as counsel to Beedie and Blakes acted as counsel to La Caisse.
