Hut 8 sells its Canadian managed cloud business to Opti9 Technologies

On September 3, 2026, Hut 8 Corp., a Miami-based energy infrastructure and digital asset company listed on Nasdaq and the Toronto Stock Exchange, announced the sale of its Canadian managed cloud business to Opti9 Technologies LLC, a North American cloud, data protection, cybersecurity and managed services provider backed by private equity firm Crest Rock Partners. The transaction was structured as a carve-out of Hut 8's traditional managed cloud services business in Canada, with ten team members transitioning to the buyer. Hut 8 retained ownership of its Canadian data centres and continues to operate its graphics processing unit and high-performance computing business, as well as its colocation operations. As part of the transaction, Opti9 and Hut 8 entered into a multi-year colocation agreement under which Opti9 will continue to operate the acquired cloud infrastructure at Hut 8's Canadian data centres. The acquisition builds on Opti9's fifteen-year presence in the Canadian market and expands its managed cloud footprint across additional Canadian data centre locations, providing greater geographic flexibility for its channel partners and customers with respect to workload location, data residency, resiliency and disaster recovery within Canada. Opti9 operates infrastructure across thirteen data centres globally and delivers a portfolio spanning private, public and hybrid cloud, data protection and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, compliance and managed technology services. The chief executive officer of Opti9 indicated that mergers and acquisitions will remain central to the company's growth strategy as it expands its geographic footprint and capabilities.
