Marubeni signs share subscription deal with Bison Low Carbon Ventures Inc.

Marubeni Corporation recently finalized a share subscription agreement with Bison Low Carbon Ventures Inc. to support the development of Bison's carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Alberta, Canada. This collaboration highlights Marubeni's commitment to advancing green business initiatives as outlined in its GC2024 Mid-Term Management Strategy, aiming for global carbon neutrality. The Meadowbrook CCS Project, situated near Edmonton, Alberta, stands out among Bison's projects with its goal to establish a major storage facility capable of handling 3 million tons of CO2 annually. With geological assessments and drilling set to begin in the latter half of 2023 and storage operations expected to start by the end of 2024, the project aims to reach full capacity in response to the growing demand for sequestration services. The initiative is designed to capture and store CO2 emissions from the Alberta Industrial Heartland Area, contributing significantly to Canada and Alberta's 2050 carbon neutrality objectives. Moreover, it opens avenues for new industries like blue hydrogen and blue ammonia production. Marubeni's investment also extends to the North Drumheller CCS Project and other energy transition endeavors by Bison, marking a significant step towards decarbonizing industries that are challenging to abate.
