Morrison Hershfield, established in 1946 and employee-owned, boasts a high reputation in transportation, buildings, and environmental services, with a strong presence in Canada, further offices in the US and India. This acquisition is poised to boost Stantec's Canadian workforce by around 10%. The transaction, awaiting approvals from Morrison Hershfield's shareholders, courts, and regulatory bodies, is expected to conclude in Q1 2024. The financial terms were not disclosed.
The merger aims to expand Stantec's footprint in Canadian and US markets, enhancing its building engineering and environmental services. Morrison Hershfield brings expertise that complements Stantec's offerings, including doubling Stantec's transportation presence in Ontario and augmenting capabilities in high-growth areas like data center engineering and smart building technologies. The combined entity will leverage Morrison Hershfield's extensive project portfolio, including significant contributions to the Gardiner Expressway East repair in Toronto and the Confederation and Trillium lines of Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit system.
