Carr Hatch shares how the firm blends legacy, innovation, and client-first results
In an exclusive interview with Canadian Lawyer TV, Carr Hatch, Partner at Thomson Rogers, reflected on the firm’s 90th anniversary and its recognition as one of Canadian Lawyer’s Top Personal Injury Boutiques for 2025.
This marks the 15th consecutive year the firm has received the honour – a testament to its ongoing excellence and commitment to clients. “It’s really nice to be consistently recognized year after year for the work we do for our clients,” said Hatch. “Consistency is something we strive for in our firm, along with excellence.”
In the past year alone, Thomson Rogers achieved several precedent-setting trial outcomes, including the largest punitive damages award in Canadian history.
When asked what sets the firm apart, Hatch pointed to its strong internal culture and investment in innovation. “We have outstanding mentorship... and we’ve devoted significant resources to technology to make sure every lawyer here has the best resources available for their clients.”
He also emphasized the firm’s focus on the lawyer-client relationship. “When families place their trust in me, it means a great deal. We make sure they receive elite healthcare and the support they need to heal.”
As Thomson Rogers marks 90 years in practice, Hatch spoke proudly about the firm’s legacy. “Our firm has produced so many judges, politicians, and leaders across industries. We really see those successes as a badge of honour.”
For individuals or families seeking personal injury counsel, Hatch advised asking potential firms about their track record and experience. “I always invite new clients to speak with some of my past clients if that would help them feel more comfortable. Building trust from the very beginning is key.”
With a legacy built on trust, results, and advocacy, Thomson Rogers continues to lead the way in personal injury law.
