A shortlist of deals nominees will be announced in mid-April
Ahead of the upcoming Canadian Law Awards, Canadian Lawyer and Lexpert unveiled this month the 2026 list of Excellence Awardees – the shortlist of award nominees hand-picked by the Canadian Law Awards team.
An independent panel of judges is set to review the shortlist and score each nominee. Winners of this year’s Canadian Law Awards will be announced at an awards gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Tuesday, May 6, 2026.
The list of Excellence Awardees can be found on the Canadian Law Awards website.
A shortlist of notable deals will be announced separately on April 15th. Stay tuned.
Each year, the Canadian Law Awards celebrate outstanding achievements, organizations, and individuals across the country’s legal industry. The 21 award categories for Excellence Awardees recognize group efforts (Commercial Litigation Team of the Year, Canadian Law Department of the Year, Banking & Financial Services Law Department of the Year) and exceptional individuals (Litigator of the Year, Managing Partner of the Year).
They also recognize notable projects or ventures (Pro Bono Initiative of the Year, Diversity Initiative of the Year, Best Use of Technology in a Law Firm) and top regional firms.
Nominations closed at the end of January. The Canadian Law Awards team selects the Excellence Awardees based on industry expertise.
