The latest edition of Canadian Lawyer’s top 10 Quebec regional firms has demonstrated the importance of firms maintaining broad capabilities while embedded in local economies and being able to translate technical proficiency into practical solutions for clients in complex situations.

Amid an increasingly complex legal marketplace, the province’s leading regional firms for 2026–27 have shown consistency and adaptability, met rising client demands and expectations, kept up with the pace of business, turned legal knowledge into decisive action, and established a positive reputation owing to their talented people, strong relationships, and proximity to clients.

“Clients no longer need advisers who merely react to the present; they expect partners who anticipate what’s coming, who grasp both current and emerging trends, and who can transform legal insight into strategic foresight,” says Sébastien N. Falardeau, primary partner at Prelia’s Montreal office.

“Being technically skilled and knowing where to find the answer is important, and many lawyers are very good at that,” adds Yanick Tanguay, vice president of Dunton Rainville LLP. “But being aware of all your clients’ needs goes further.”

This year’s winners

Apart from Dunton Rainville LLP, the other winning firms are BCF Business Law, Cain Lamarre LLP, De Grandpré Chait SENCRL, Langlois Lawyers LLP, Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon LLP, Lavery de Billy LLP, Robinson Sheppard Shapiro LLP, Stein Monast LLP, and Therrien Couture Joli-Coeur SENCRL.

With 40 lawyers recognized in the 2026 Lexpert directory across Montreal and Quebec City, Langlois leads this year’s rankings. The firm’s lawyers have practised across areas such as labour relations, corporate commercial litigation, construction, employment, insurance litigation, professional liability, and workers’ compensation.

To arrive at the winners for 2026–27, Canadian Lawyer conducted a national survey of readers from Oct. 6–31, 2025. The team provided a curated list of full-service firms with offices in Quebec, including the Ottawa-Gatineau region, and asked readers to rank up to 10 firms in the long list. Readers had the option to nominate an additional firm not on the list.

Apart from the quantitative voting results, this year’s rankings also reflected Lexpert peer survey results, regional diversity considerations, and the firms’ regional service coverage, client base, notable mandates, service excellence, and legal expertise.
