He brings over 15 years of experience in corporate commercial law
Former Norton Rose Fulbright partner Ethan Sinclair has joined Dentons’ infrastructure and public private partnerships group as its newest partner.
The Lexpert-ranked lawyer brings over 15 years of experience handling corporate commercial issues, concentrating on the infrastructure sector. He has tackled complex transactions and contractual arrangements.
Dentons Ottawa managing partner, Chase Irwin, highlighted Sinclair’s track record with major public infrastructure and energy projects across Canada.
“Ethan strengthens our ability to support public and private sector companies on complex, large-scale mandates, as client demand for integrated advice continues to accelerate across Canada,” Irwin said in a statement.
Dentons’ global leader of industrials, transportation and infrastructure, Ilan Dunsky, added that Sinclair joins as “major infrastructure projects are becoming more complex, more capital intensive and more interconnected across markets.”
“Ethan brings the commercial judgment and transaction experience required to support clients navigating large-scale projects in that environment. His addition deepens our sector focus and further strengthens our ability to connect Canadian mandates with global infrastructure opportunities,” Dunsky said.
Sinclair has worked on issues related to project development in the infrastructure, energy, commercial and residential property sectors, tackling project structuring, financing and procurement. He has advised on matters involving tendering and RFP documentation and processes; engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and EPC management contracting; subcontract and supply agreements, service agreements, equipment leases, and performance security.
His clients have included procurement authorities, private sector proponents, developers, land owners, constructors, and consultants. He has assisted with structuring and implementing myriad public-private partnership transactions and guided merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions regarding energy-related assets across Canada and offshore Canada's east coast. Moreover, he was a senior legal counsel for Canadian construction company Pomerleau.
“Canada’s infrastructure sector is experiencing significant momentum, with robust public and private investment driving growth, creating opportunities and complexities for clients navigating these projects,” Sinclair said. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, nationally and across borders, to help clients accelerate their projects and support transformative infrastructure initiatives that will shape Canada’s economic future.”
Sinclair will work from Ottawa.
