He will be supported by global vice chairman Daniël Haije
Brinsley Dresden, advertising law co-head at UK firm Lewis Silkin, has been announced as the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance’s new global chairman.
Dresden was elected as the successor to Jeffrey A. Greenbaum, the managing partner of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz in New York. Greenbaum has helmed GALA for 12 years.
“I am honored to have been elected to serve as GALA’s global president, taking over from Jeff Greenbaum, who has led GALA with such distinction,” Dresden said in a statement. “I look forward to further strengthening our collaboration, deepening our thought leadership, and helping members and their clients stay ahead of emerging issues, from sustainability claims and influencer marketing to AI‑enabled advertising and data‑driven personalization.”
Dresden will step into the new role on January 1, 2026 and remain in the post for three years, according to Lewis Silkin’s media release. He will oversee GALA’s strategic direction, strengthen cross-jurisdictional collaboration, and bolster member engagement and training.
He has tackled matters involving regulatory compliance, influencer marketing, promotions, green claims, and cross border campaigns. He has worked with global and UK brands as well as with independent and network agencies.
Dresden has advised on compliance with self‑regulatory codes and consumer protection laws, defended investigations by the Advertising Standards Authority and the Competition and Markets Authority, and assisted on substantiation and comparative claims as well as social media marketing.
He has been part of GALA’s global leadership team since it was launched in 1998. He has helped with thought leadership, cross‑border guidance harmonization, and client education initiatives.
Dresden will be supported by global vice chairman Daniël Haije, who was re-elected to the role. Haije is a partner at Netherlands firm Hoogenraad & Haak.
US-based Davis & Gilbert partner Allison Fitzpatrick was named global secretary, while Mexico-based Arochi & Lindner partner Jose Antonio Arochi was appointed global treasurer. Greenbaum will stay on GALA’s executive committee as immediate past president.
“I am absolutely thrilled with Brinsley’s election as GALA’s new global chairman. As the long-time member from the United Kingdom, Brinsley and his firm have been extraordinary contributors to GALA. He is a great lawyer, colleague, and friend, and there is no one better suited to take on this role. Under Brinsley’s leadership, and with election of Daniël, Allison, and Jose to global leadership roles, great things are in store for GALA,” Greenbaum said in a statement.
GALA is a global network of advertising and marketing law practitioners. Over 90 countries are represented in the network. Next spring, it will hold a conference in London in conjunction with its global meeting.
