UK-based banking partner Susan Kelly has been elected by Dentons’ global board and global advisory committee as the firm’s non-executive global board chair.

Kelly takes the helm on November 10. She succeeds Dentons Lee senior managing attorney Nicholas Howon Park in the leadership role.

Kelly will lead the meetings of the global board, global advisory committee, and the General Assembly of the Verein; moreover, she will supervise the bodies’ compliance with responsibilities, applicable laws and regulations.

“Dentons is uniquely positioned in more than 80 countries to provide support and solutions to clients, and I plan to look at ways in which we can bring client and leadership perspectives into the boardroom to benefit everyone,” Kelly said in a statement.

She first commenced with Dentons’ Scotland branch in 1991 (under Maclay Murray & Spens). She made partner in 1998.

Kelly has tackled legal matters related to food and drink, manufacturing, technology, real estate, all aspects of corporate lending, acquisition finance, and real estate finance in local and global markets. She works across the firm’s Edinburgh and London offices and has been recognized by Chambers and Legal 500.

Presently, she sits on the Dentons UK, Ireland, and Middle East LLP’s board as well as on the global board. She is also on the board of Strathclyde University, where she is part of the investment and innovation committee.

“With my thanks to Nick for his service, I am delighted to welcome Susan as our incoming non-executive chair of the global board. Susan has been an integral part of Dentons for many years. We will all benefit from her years of legal and industry experience as we continue to deliver exceptional client service,” Dentons global CEO Kate Barton said. “She is a seasoned and dynamic operator, and I am confident that she will play a key role in overseeing the function of the global board as we lead the firm from strength to greater strength.”
