A former Norton Rose Fulbright partner, he handled commercial tech, IP matters
Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP has announced the appointment of Nikita Stepin, who has worked across all areas of commercial technology and intellectual property (IP) law, as a Montreal-based partner in its technology practice.
In an announcement on its website, the firm shared that Stepin has furnished legal advice and services in connection with corporate and commercial transactions involving technology and IP rights.
Davies noted that he has handled both sides of multinational mergers and acquisitions and dealt with the IP aspects, including undertaking due diligence, structuring transfers, and protecting technological assets.
Stepin’s IP law practice has focused on patent litigation. It has also included patent impeachment and infringement actions, as well as proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations.
He has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal on IP litigation matters.
Stepin has also drafted commercial agreements and assisted with data protection and regulatory matters under the Food and Drug Regulations.
The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory has listed him as repeatedly recommended in the area of technology transactions. He has also appeared in Lexpert’s special edition on Canada’s leading technology lawyers.
