Justin Robichaud on trust, purpose, and standing up for clients

In an exclusive interview, founding partner Justin Robichaud shared how his firm’s people-first philosophy and deep community roots have helped shape its national reputation – all from its home bases in Moncton and Edmonton.
“We’re a relatively small firm – just nine lawyers – but representing plaintiffs against well-resourced insurers is familiar territory,” Robichaud said. “Being the underdog is where we did some of our best work.”
Fidelis Law’s success was built on intentionality: not chasing volume, but prioritizing care, clarity, and long-term outcomes. “We’re not a settlement mill. We took the time to understand our clients’ stories before talking resolution,” he explained. “It’s the kind of representation we’d want for our own families.”
The firm’s name, Fidelis – Latin for “faithful” or “loyal” – wasn’t chosen for branding alone. “It reminded us of what we were here for,” said Robichaud. “Loyalty to our clients, and to the idea that the legal profession should be a force for good.”
Their impact extended far beyond the courtroom. From community service to mentoring law students, the team’s culture of service was woven into everything they did. “We built a team where leadership in the profession was part of the culture,” Robichaud noted. “Now it’s our turn to give back.”
He also reflected on the personal experiences that inspired his values: “When I was young, our house burned down just before Christmas. It was our community that rallied around us. That kind of support becomes a part of you.”
Looking ahead, Robichaud emphasized: “We weren’t focused on being the biggest firm — we wanted to be the most trusted.”
