Canadian Lawyer’s 11th edition of the Readers’ Choice awards spotlights a selection of leading providers of legal technology, services, and products that have earned the trust and respect of legal professionals through their consistent and client-focused outcomes.

Across the surveyed categories, the Readers’ Choice 2025 winners stand out among their peers due to their:

  • technological advancements and digital transformation
  • specialization and niche experience
  • trusted brands
  • industry leadership
  • close integration with professional services supporting every practice aspect
  • client-focused service delivery
  • broad legal support services
  • domestic and international reach

“Our goal has always been to give lawyers the freedom to practice anytime, anywhere, with the tools they need to deliver outstanding client service,” says Malcolm Muthulingum, chief executive officer of LEAP Legal Software Canada.

The survey results for this year reveal the following trends and observations:

  • a legal ecosystem evolving in scope and complexity
  • a maturing market, with growth in alternative legal service providers (ALSPs), legal tech, and outsourcing
  • investments shifting toward automation, integration, and measurable efficiency
  • pragmatic artificial intelligence adoption, with legal teams piloting and layering AI into workflows
  • diversified partnership models, with teams blending in-house counsel, firms, ALSPs, and specialists

“It’s an exciting new frontier in life care planning, and we’re only beginning to understand the full potential, limitations, and long-term impact AI-assisted tools will have on the field,” says Alyssa Bierbrier, an occupational therapist and certified life care planner at Carol Bierbrier & Associates.

How winners emerged

Canadian Lawyer’s research team:

  • prepared a confidential online ballot, based on a list of vendors and service providers curated by the editorial team and nominated by the readers
  • surveyed readers, who could choose a specific number of candidates for each category and suggest additional nominees
  • arrived at the top three, including ties, per category, which became the Readers’ Choice winners

The Readers’ Choice awardees for 2025 include Canadian Commercial Arbitration Centre, Carol Bierbrier & Associates (CBA), Clio, Henderson Structured Settlements, LEAP Legal Software Canada, and Thomson Reuters Canada Limited

“Our approach has always been to enhance the work of legal professionals rather than replace it,” Luke Slan, Clio’s general manager, tells Canadian Lawyer.

“In view of the ongoing economic uncertainty, we hope clients will continue to see structured settlements as a safe and stable investment that can be relied upon to provide for their needs over the long term,” says Jessica Vickerman, partner at Henderson Structured Settlements LP.
