Among other updates to its regional leadership across the Americas, DLA Piper announced the appointments of Jamie Mandell as Toronto office managing partner and Michael Mjanes as Vancouver office managing partner.
In Canada, DLA Piper’s office leadership also includes:
- Jennifer Arndt: Calgary office managing partner
- Veronica Monteiro: Edmonton office managing partner
- Marc Philibert: Montreal office managing partner

In the same news release, the firm also announced the following appointments:
- Joaquín Eppens: Buenos Aires deputy co-managing partner, alongside Martín Mittelman, with Marcelo Etchebarne as Buenos Aires office managing partner
- Jason Lewis: Dallas office managing partner
- Meagan Self: Dallas deputy managing partner
- Francisca Franzani: Santiago co-office managing partner, alongside Matías Zegers

Jamie Mandell
Mandell has focused on securities and corporate finance, as well as corporate and commercial law. Her clients have included startups, mid-size companies, and large publicly traded companies.
She has acted for issuers and investment dealers on a range of matters, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, going public transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mandell’s focus areas have also included corporate venture capital, emerging growth and venture capital, and equity capital markets.
She has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and Young Women in Law.
Michael Mjanes
Mjanes’ practice has encompassed real estate, construction, and corporate and commercial law.
His real estate and construction practice has covered acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing, project development, financing, and joint ventures. His client base has included developers, investors, non-profit housing providers, and businesses.
Mjanes’ corporate and commercial practice has spanned sectors such as forestry, mining, telecommunications, healthcare, mini-storage, food and beverage, and emerging technology. His work has included mergers and acquisitions, secured lending, shareholder agreements, and corporate reorganizations.
He has presented on real estate and commercial law topics. He has also contributed to publications on continuing legal education. He has been a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association’s real estate and business law sections.
