There’s only a few more weeks until the 2026 Canadian Law Awards gala, where Lexpert and Canadian Lawyer will unveil their selection of the most exceptional deals, individuals, teams, and initiatives across Canada’s legal industry.

This year’s awards will be hosted by Farah Nasser, an award-winning journalist, former national news anchor, and global keynote speaker who helps leaders build trust in the age of AI.

Held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on May 5, the gala will kick off with a cocktail reception, followed by the awards ceremony and dinner banquet. A post-awards celebration will follow.

The dress code will be formal.

Each year, the Canadian Law Awards honour the best of Canada’s legal industry.

In March, Lexpert and Canadian Lawyer revealed the 2026 list of Excellence Awardees – the shortlist of award nominees hand-picked by the Canadian Law Awards team.

A shortlist of notable deals will be announced on April 15.

An independent panel of judges will review nominees from both shortlists and select the winners that will be announced at the awards gala.

Andrea Wood, executive vice president and chief legal and governance officer at TELUS, says it’s an honour to serve as a Canadian Law Awards judge for the seventh year in a row.

“The experience is always inspiring. Reading about the achievements of lawyers across the country, whether in-house or in private practice, highlights the impact our profession can have,” Wood says.

“It’s both humbling and deeply affirming to read about the accomplishments of my fellow lawyers, from major deals to impactful community contributions. It makes me incredibly proud to be a member of our profession.”
